Outdoor classroom at Wenatchee River Institute Dedication

Posted

The dedication was held on Thursday, December 8, and shown here to officially cut the ribbon for the new Wenatchee River Institute outdoor classroom are Laura Reichlin, WRI’s Board President and past Leavenworth Rotary President Joel Walinski, standing in for current President Mike Worden. Outgoing Executive Director Carolyn Griffin-Bugert thanked everyone who helped with the project from funding to those who built it and volunteers who put in many hours of their time. The project would not have been possible without the many hours of donated time from local architect, Alison Miller and local structural engineering firm, Morrish Design. There was also great support from local businesses, Leavenworth Electric & Excavation and Wiley Construction and their crews.

Executive Director Bugert also spoke about how the  outdoor classroom will be used. New Executive Director Canuche Terranella will start his new position next week when Carolyn officially retires. The project was funded by a grant from Leavenworth Rotary with a matching grant from the District Rotary, and the  Leavenworth Fund and lodging tax dollars support grants from the City of Leavenworth.
