Link Transit donates surplus vans to local nonprofits

WENATCHEE — Link Transit has awarded five local organizations with used vans as part of its new surplus van grant program.

The recipients of this inaugural round of grants include Wenatchee Rescue Mission, Plain Food Pantry and Community Church, CAFÉ, Chelan Teen Center, and Parque Padrinos/Pinnacles Prep.

The program allows Link Transit to repurpose vehicles that have reached the end of their service life with the transit agency, donating them to qualifying non-profit organizations and government agencies instead of auctioning them off.

The awarded vehicles range from 5- to 11-passenger vans. While they no longer meet Link Transit's operational standards, all are fully operable and serviceable.

Link Transit received twelve applications for the five available vehicles in this round. The competitive grant process is designed to support organizations that align with Link Transit's goal of providing mobility options for community members.
