Burnett leads three-county race for 12th District House seat

CHELAN COUNTY - Republican Brian Burnett has taken an early lead in the race for Washington state's 12th Legislative District House seat, Position 1, with strong performances in Chelan and Snohomish counties offsetting his opponent's advantage in King County.

According to initial election returns from all three counties, Burnett has secured 35,278 total votes (54.3%) compared to Democrat Heather Koellen's 29,956 votes (45.5%), with write-in candidates receiving the remaining votes.

The district, which spans across rural and urban areas, shows distinct geographic voting patterns. In Chelan County, Burnett received 19,524 votes (59.1%) to Koellen's 13,457 votes (40.7%). Similarly, in Snohomish County, Burnett maintained his lead with 8,807 votes (54.4%) against Koellen's 7,369 votes (45.5%).

However, the race flipped in King County's portion of the district, where Koellen captured 10,130 votes (59.2%) compared to Burnett's 6,947 votes (40.6%).

The next ballot count is scheduled for Thursday, November 7.

The election remains unofficial, with additional ballots still to be counted across the three-county region. State election officials note that final certification of results will occur once all valid ballots have been processed and counted in accordance with state law.
