Auditor seeks residents for ballot measure committees

Posted

WENATCHEE - The Chelan County Auditor's Office seeks individuals to serve on "For" or "Against" committees for ballot measures in the upcoming August 6 Special Election Local Voters' Pamphlet. The measures requiring committee members include the Upper Valley Park and Recreation Service Area, Wenatchee Valley Fire Department, and Fire District No. 5.

According to RCW 29A.32.280, districts proposing the measures are responsible for appointing committees to write arguments for and against each measure. However, in this case, the districts did not appoint committees, so the County Auditor is now seeking individuals to fill these roles.

To be eligible, committee members must be residents of the district for which they draft arguments. At least one person must be willing to be named in the voters' pamphlet as a member of the committee.

Interested individuals must submit their names and arguments to the Auditor's Office by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024, either via email to auditor@co.chelan.wa.us or by calling 509.667.6808 to arrange for dropping off forms.

For more information on the submission process and deadlines, visit the Chelan County Elections website at Elections.ChelanCountyWA.gov and look under "Jurisdiction Resources."
