PORT ANGELES, Wash.  — Patience at the plate proved to be the key factor in the Wenatchee AppleSox's 6-3 victory over the Port Angeles Lefties on Thursday night at Civic Field. The win secured another series victory for the AppleSox.

Matthew DelVecchio put in a solid performance on the mound, striking out six batters in 5.1 innings of work. Stephen Hammergren came in for the save, recording seven outs for his second save in the last three days and third scoreless outing of the summer.

The AppleSox offense was led by Elijah Pelayo and Luca Boscarino, who collected three hits each. However, it was the team's discipline at the plate that made the difference. Wenatchee hitters drew an impressive 13 walks, just four shy of tying the single-game franchise record set on July 29, 2014, against Victoria. Additionally, five batters were hit by pitches, and AppleSox pitchers also plunked five hitters. Despite going 2-for-19 with runners in scoring position, the AppleSox managed to secure the win.

Port Angeles' runs came exclusively from solo home runs, with Jeremy Giesegh going deep in the fifth and seventh innings, and Spencer Dickinson hitting a solo shot in the second.

Pelayo drove in the first run with a two-out single in the third inning, three batters after Damon Gaither hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game. Pelayo later drove in Boscarino in the fifth inning following a leadoff single and a groundout. Aidan Dougherty drew a two-out bases-loaded walk later in the frame, while Kade Benavidez hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh, and Boscarino recorded a two-out bases-loaded walk.

The AppleSox will continue their road trip by heading north of the border to face the Victoria HarbourCats in a series opener on Friday night at 6:35 p.m. Coverage begins at 6:10 on the AppleSox Radio Network, and the game can be heard on kcsyfm.com.
