WENATCHEE -- The Wenatchee AppleSox's second-half opener was marred by defensive miscues as they fell to the Victoria HarbourCats 12-9 on Tuesday night at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium.

The AppleSox (18-9 first half, 0-1 second half) committed six errors, leading to their fourth home loss of the summer. Despite the defensive struggles, Wenatchee's offense showed resilience, led by Cam Hoiland's four-hit performance and Cannon Peery's two RBI doubles.

Victoria (14-13 first half, 1-0 second half) capitalized on Wenatchee's mistakes, breaking the game open with a two-out, five-run rally in the third inning. The HarbourCats continued to apply pressure, adding runs in the fifth, seventh, and eighth innings to maintain their lead.

Wenatchee mounted a comeback attempt in the sixth inning, scoring three runs to narrow the gap to one. Peery's second two-out RBI double brought the AppleSox within striking distance, but he was left stranded as the potential tying run. Victoria quickly responded, pushing their lead back to four runs with a three-run seventh inning.

The loss marks a disappointing start to the second half for Wenatchee, who now face an uphill battle to maintain their strong first-half form. The AppleSox will look to rebound on Wednesday night during their annual Fireworks Night game, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
