WDFW seeking applicants for Wolf Advisory Group

Posted

OLYMPIA — The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking applicants to fill four vacant positions on its Wolf Advisory Group (WAG), which advises the department’s director on the conservation and management of wolves in the state. The appointments are for two-year terms.

Successful candidates will be expected to work collaboratively with people who hold differing viewpoints to develop advice and recommendations for WDFW. The agency said it is especially interested in applicants who can represent the perspectives of hunters, livestock producers, environmental or conservation interests, and other “at large” stakeholders.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Sept. 15. Interested individuals can download and submit an application by email to WolfAdvisoryGroup@dfw.wa.gov or mail it to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, P.O. Box 43200, Olympia, WA 98504-3200, Attention Subhadeep Bhattacharjee. Printed applications can be requested by emailing the same address or calling 360-902-8135.

The WAG meets at least four times per year, holding two-day meetings in person and virtually. Members may be reimbursed for travel expenses.

Formed in 2013, the advisory group brings together diverse viewpoints to help inform Washington’s gray wolf conservation and management efforts. More information is available on WDFW’s website.
