New name, new rules for parking lot behind Leavenworth City Hall

Posted

LEAVENWORTH — The City of Leavenworth will implement new parking validation rules for Eightmile Lot, formerly known as the Enchantments Lot, starting Oct. 1.

The lot will shift to parking validation during business hours, reserved for visitors of the city hall and library.

Currently, the lot offers free three-hour parking with only a handful of spots reserved for library visitors. According to the city, the change is due to high demand and low turnover in the lot, which has made it difficult for city hall and library visitors to find parking.

Validation will be required for city hall and library visitors Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Outside of those hours, the lot will be open to the public and Downtown Employee Permit holders. The lot will remain open for free three-hour parking during the weekend.

To validate, the city says to scan the QR code on the signs in the parking lot to start a parking session. Then, visitors will have 15 minutes to enter the building and validate parking by scanning a second QR code at the front desk.

The city added that the parking lot was renamed from Enchantments to Eightmile Lot to avoid confusion with Enchantment Park.

Parking will remain free in designated ADA parking stalls with a valid disabled placard or plate. Charging stalls for electric vehicles are free to park in while charging.
