Leavenworth Library to showcase local artist's nature-inspired works

Posted

LEAVENWORTH —The Leavenworth Library will host an art exhibition featuring works by local artist Cynthia Neely in its Fireside Room from October 15 through November 22. Neely, a Leavenworth resident, works primarily with acrylic, cold wax, and oil.

The exhibition will present Neely's current body of work, which focuses on the relationship between individuals and their surrounding landscapes. According to the exhibition announcement, Neely's art "attempts to answer questions about a sense of one's place in the landscape and how to respond to that place."

The landscape in Neely's work is portrayed as vast and powerful, yet also fragile, subject to human influence and care. It expresses feelings that can be both intimate and distant simultaneously.

Neely's creative process involves exploring textures, patterns, and colors inspired by the natural world. The artist states that she "endeavors to capture the indelible impressions inspired by the natural world" and is "stirred by both the strength and the vulnerability of what is around us, by its need for our respect and attention."

The exhibition will be open to the public during regular library hours in the Fireside Room of the Leavenworth Library.
