LEAVENWORTH — Icicle Creek Center for the Arts (ICCA) will host the Kenny & Amanda Smith band on Aug. 22, marking the nationally acclaimed bluegrass duo’s only Washington stop on their summer tour.
Pairing Amanda's heartfelt vocals with Kenny's inventive guitar work, the duo have made a name for themselves in the bluegrass world over nearly two decades. According to ICCA, Kenny is regarded as one of the most influential flat-picking guitarists of his generation, and is a two-time International Bluegrass Music Association Guitar Player of the Year. In 2014, Amanda was recognized with the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Female Vocalist of the Year award.
They will be joined by a local favorite, The Welter Brothers, a Wenatchee Valley sibling duo known for rich blood harmonies, exceptional musicianship, and deep roots in traditional bluegrass.
"We're thrilled to welcome Kenny & Amanda Smith to Leavenworth for their only Washington performance this summer. Their musicianship is truly something to experience in person, and having Wenatchee Valley's own The Welter Brothers open the evening makes this concert even more special,” said ICCA Director of Programming Rhia Foster.
ICCA encourages guests to bring a blanket or lawn chair, pack a picnic or enjoy food and beverages onsite, and settle in for one of Leavenworth's premier outdoor bluegrass concerts of the summer. If wildfire smoke is an issue, the concert has the option to be moved inside the Snowy Owl Theater.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, at ICCA. Gates will open at 6 p.m.
Tickets and more information are available at icicle.org.
