Darby Lynn (Richardson) Lockett, 89, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away in Walnut Creek, CA on February, 25, 2026, with her family present.
Darby was born to Harold and Rilla Geneva Richardson. After Harold passed, her mother remarried Eugene "Gene" LeMaister, and Darby spent her formative years in Cashmere, WA with her mother, stepfather, and brother.
While attending Linfield College in McMinnville, OR, she met and married Dudley Lockett in 1958. They lived in Spokane, WA before moving to Concord, CA where they raised their children, Bryan and Bruce.
Darby earned her master's in education and taught in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District and ended her career as Vice Principal of Oak Grove Middle School. She was known for her love of family, her church, and mentorship of others
Survivors include her son, Bryan Lockett and wife, Stephanie, and grandchildren, Sara and Kyle. Preceding her in death were her husband Dudley and son Bruce.
A celebration of Darby's life will be held on May 2, 2026 in Walnut Creek, CA with a smaller gravesite gathering to be held in Cashmere later this year.
