WENATCHEE — The Columbia River Drug Task Force (CRDTF) has received a $150,000 grant from the Washington State Department of Commerce.

The funding comes at a critical time for the multi-agency task force, as similar teams across Washington state have faced significant budget reductions. The CRDTF comprises members from various law enforcement agencies in the region.

The task force includes personnel from Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Wenatchee Police Department, East Wenatchee Police Department, Washington State Department of Corrections, and Homeland Security Investigations. It focuses on identifying and dismantling mid- to upper-level criminal organizations involved in illicit gang, gun, and drug activities.

Officials state that the collaborative approach has enhanced public safety and improved community health throughout the region. The newly secured funds will help maintain and advance these initiatives.

The Chelan County Sheriff's Office emphasized the importance of external funding in light of recent budget constraints. The office views this grant as a testament to the region's dedication to maintaining essential services despite financial challenges.

The sheriff's office reports that it remains committed to securing resources that support regional programs and benefit the communities it serves, maintaining its motto of being "Of the People. For the People."
