CHELAN COUNTY — Results for the Chelan County Treasurer race remain steady in the second round of Aug. 4 Primary counts released Wednesday afternoon.
Richard (Rick) Viall improved his lead by nearly half a percentage point, standing with 51.68 percent of the vote (8,927 votes). Doug Miller saw a slight dip, slipping from 48.72 percent to 48.14 percent (8,315 votes).
“I appreciate the support at the ballot box from our community,” said Miller in a statement to Ward Media. “Beginning a little over a month ago, major fires impacted Washington State, and I continue my work supporting teams fighting to control these incidents. I hope to return to campaign opportunities soon.”
Though Viall is showing favorability, both candidates will advance to the general election this November.
The Chelan County Treasurer’s Office is responsible for efficient and reliable handling of all funds for a county that manages between $76 million and $101 million, depending on the time of year. Records are maintained for over 56,000 tax and assessment accounts, according to the office. In November, voters will elect one of the candidates to serve a four-year term as Treasurer, succeeding current treasurer David Griffiths.
