LEAVENWORTH — Cascade School District (CSD) has named Terry Muscutt as the new interim principal of Alpine Lakes and Beaver Valley Elementary Schools.

Muscutt has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Western Washington University, a master’s in science education from Lesley University, and his principal’s administrator certification from Washington State University, according to CSD.

Muscutt joined Eastmont School District after completing his teaching internship at Peshastin-Dryden in 1997. He later returned to Cascade School District in 2015, where he taught at the former Osborn Elementary and the current Alpine Lakes Elementary.

Muscutt taught fifth grade and supervised the intervention program at Alpine Lakes. While in Leavenworth, he earned his principal credentials and served as the principal of Cascade Home Link for five years. Muscutt has also spent the last few years coaching high school football and middle school basketball.

His wife, Mandi, grew up in Leavenworth and teaches at Icicle River Middle School. The Muscutts have two daughters, Kascia and Lauren, both graduates of Cascade High School. Muscutt is from the Bellingham area, and “still thinks Galbraith is the best place to bike, but he doesn’t mind exploring new places.”

According to the district, Muscutt aims to build a learning environment where teachers feel energized and love what they do, helping students feel safe, cared for, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Muscutt will fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Kenny Renner-Singer in June.
