OLYMPIA – The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced today that burning restrictions have been lowered in many portions of eastern Washington on DNR-protected lands. This became effective Sept. 18, 2019 at 12:01 a.m.
Rule and permit burns are allowed in most areas, however, there are still burn restrictions in a few areas. Please check with the local fire district or visit https://fortress.wa.gov/dnr/protection/firedanger/ before lighting any fire.
Campfires may be allowed in designated approved campgrounds. Always check first with the campground host before lighting a campfire. Individual campgrounds may still prohibit campfires.
Also, follow the conditions of the burn permit, and be careful when burning by following these simple steps:
https://fortress.wa.gov/dnr/protection/firedanger/ for current burning conditions.
DNR’s wildfire mission
Administered by Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz, DNR is responsible for preventing and fighting wildfires on 13 million acres of private, state and tribal-owned forestlands.
