Dress code talk continues for CHS and IRMS
After an extensive discussion on the dress code at the June 23 Cascade School Board meeting, the board again took up the issue at the July 21 meeting, at the urging of new Superintendent Bill Motsenbocker.

This was in hopes of discussing it more, before the high school handbook is printed. New Cascade High School Principal Elia Ala'ilima-Daley said it was too late.

"We'll probably have to do some write-ins with that. From what I understand, there was quite a discussion on short length, fingertips or fists," Motsenbock said to the board. "I thought it would be beneficial for us to be on the same page with that, because it is a policy decision for the board. You can either give us direction on where we should head with it or give decisions on how we should proceed. We need to have something decided on that."

School Board decides to press on with current athletic honor code
With admittedly the strictest athletic honor code in the league, the Cascade School Board has decided to press on with the current code after three years, but continue to monitor.

As it stands, student athletes lose an entire season if they are caught using or possessing illegal drugs or alcohol. Former CHS Athletic Director Elia Ala'ilima Daley said, at the July 21 school board meeting, there have been 11 honor code violations the past three years, with eight coming this past year.

"We only implement what is on the honor code, when we find out information. Are kids out there doing things they are not supposed to be doing? Yes," Daley said. "Anytime an honor code violation is turned in to the office, we do an investigation. We've had 11 go through this."
