School Board seeks to modify dress code for CHS, IRMS
At his final board meeting on June 23, outgoing Cascade Superintendent Steve McKenna talked about some questions that have come up regarding the dress code for Cascade High School and Icicle River Middle School.

He said questions revolve around the policy and procedures set forth in the student handbook.

"Any information that goes in a student handbook really needs to be reviewed by a board, because when that becomes legally put into question, that becomes policy," McKenna said. "So its very important for boards to understand what goes into a handbook. It is an extension of board policy."

Food Service adding a sandwich deli at the high school
Cascade School District Food Services Director Kent Beavers, in his annual report to the school board on June 9, said they are looking to add another dining option for students at the high school.

Beavers said a deli-sandwich cafe would be located near the old greenhouse at the high school.

"We are going to be working on that this summer. It's going to be a deli-sandwich cafe, where students can have a deli-sandwich made to order. We're hoping it will increase lunch participation, but even it if doesn't, it will relieve congestion at the high school cafeteria," Beavers said "Our vision is to make it available for students to hang out there during the school day, after school, place to do homework or visit with friends. I have been working on cost estimates and planning the project. It should be ready to open when we start up in August."
