The girls' soccer team played Newport and beat them in a tough defensive game. Coach Glen Stefano reported that Malia Salas scored at about the 7 minute mark. The Kodiaks were able to shut out the Newport team thanks to the outstanding play of their keeper Annika Enloe and standout pressure from Mattie Parton.

The girls played their first round of the playoffs yesterday against Naches Valley in Naches. Coach Stefano said they are an outstanding team with a trio of high scoring players. They have scored 35 goals so far this year.

"It will be a tough match for us," said Stefano.

Results of the match were not available at press time.
