Coach Marni McMahon reports " It was a great weekend for Kodiak volleyball. We played Freeman and won 25-16, 25-19, 25-14 to punch our ticket to state. We played an amazing match. Stuck to the match plan and ran our offense as prepared. I was proud that all my girls contributed in some way or another."

Gabby Brulotte and Hannah Cowan had a monster match at the net with a combined 12 blocks. The Freeman hitters were getting very frustrated. Arielle Turner had a big night with 19 kills, 4 aces and 8 digs. Eliana Alai Lima-Daley added 15 kills and 4 digs. Kaycee O'Brien was solid in the backrow with 17-21 serve receive and 23 digs. Johnna Rieke added 20 assists and 8-8 serving with 3 digs. Sierra Guthrie had 15 assists, 1 block and 2 saves. Kaelyn O'Brien added 5 digs. Taylor McDevitt, Rachel Munoz, and Rachel Caudle all performed extremely well under the pressure with serving and defense. Sydney Coffin added 4 kills and 9-9 serving.

"The girls played very good defense and transitioned well on offense. I couldn't be more proud. They worked very hard all season and it's nice when it pays off," said McMahon.

The team played Lakeside in the championship for seeding.

"We didn't have any gas left in our tank. Still running on emotions we weren't able to get our game back. Which was disappointing because we can beat lakeside but we just made too many errors," said McMahon. The girls lost 25-23, 25-18,25-19. "We're a better team than that last match shows. We need to be able to regain focus," she said.

The Kodiaks will be playing at state this weekend at the Yakima Valley SunDome against Lynden Christian at 9:45 a.m.

Following last weeks play the Kodiaks will be the only Caribou Trail League Volleyball team represented in the state playoffs. Freeman beat Chelan in 4 games for the third seed and Lakeside beat Chelan earlier in the day.

Coach McMahon said, "I very much appreciate the fans and parents who made the trip to Freeman. We are very fortunate to work with such great kids, parents, and community members this year."
