The Kodiaks volleyball team had solid play all last week in order to share the league title with the Chelan Goats.
Even though the team shares the title with Chelan they will be the number one seed into the districts tournament this Saturday.
On Oct. 23 the girls played their last home against the Quincy Jacks. The girls dominated net play and kept the ball alive when the Jacks were able to attack. The match ended in three short sets 25-17, 25-13 and 25-12.
Arielle Turner led the team with 12 kills and 10 digs. Gabby Brulotte had four kills and three blocks and teammate Hannah Cowan added two more kills and two blocks to the teams stats.
The following game on Oct. 27 was one of the most important games of the Kodiaks season. Winning this game would make the girls league champions.
The girls were on fire as they fought for their league title. Each game the girls came out stronger against the Pioneers. The Bulldogs won in three sets, 25-16, 25-12, and 25-10.
Kaycee O'Brien led the team going 10-for-10 in serves and 14-for-16 on serve receive with 15 digs. Eliana Alai lima-Daley stayed strong at the net for all three games with 15 kills. She also had three aces. Turner had 12 kills and five aces.
Sydney Coffin added four kills and two aces.
"Taylor McDevitt did a great job serving for us with 8-8 and 2 aces. Proud of her improvement in her serving game," Cascade Head Coach Marni McMahon said. "Rachel Caudle added 3-for-3 serve receive with 3 digs. And Kaelyn O'Brien went 5-for-7 serve receive and eight digs."
Johnna Rieke and Sierra Guthrie combined for 35 assists and Rieke went 11-for-12 with serves.
"Big week for us and we need to keep improving. I am proud of all 12 of my girls. They are working hard and are determined on playing our best volleyball this weekend. We have five days to sharpen up and then it's game time," McMahon said.
The girls have a bye for the first round so they will play the winner of the Brewster vs. Freeman game to go to State. If they win they are in the State Tournament and will play for the Regional Championship at 7 p.m. Saturday night at Freeman High School. If they lose the Brewster or Freeman match up they will play for the third seed to state at 6 p.m. on Nov. 3.
