Lions Club collecting food

The Leavenworth Lions Club is collecting non-perishable food for their annual food drive. Until Feb. 10, donations may be left a local real estate office or Upper Valley church. The food will be distributed to Community Cupboard and Plain Pantry. For information, call Ed Potter 630-3511. (er06)

Empty Bowls Art Grants

Empty Bowls Art Grant applications are now being accepted. Closing date for applications is March 12. Teachers and community members who work creatively with local children and youth are encouraged to apply. See the Upper Valley M.E.N.D. website ( for details and application form. (er06)

Trout Unlimited meeting

The regular meeting of the Icicle Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited will feature a presentation by Jason Lundgren, Executive Director of Cascade Columbia Fisheries, on the subject of nutient enhancemnt on the high priority tributaries in the Wenatchee basin, Nason Creek, Little Wenatchee, White and Chiwawa. The presentation will feature a video and discussion on this very important subject of enhancement of our local streams for anadromous fish in the Wenatchee Basin. Our meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Kristall's Resturant on Wednesday, Feb. 13. A raffle will follow and all the public is invited. (er06,07)

Free babysitting on Valentine's Day

Cascade Mountain Bible Church, 11025 Chumstick Hwy., wants to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day by offering free babysitting on Feb. 14 from 5 to 9 p.m. for children ages 2 to 12 years old. Caregivers Support Group

On the last Saturday of each month, starting on Feb. 23, we will meet at the Community United Methodist Church, 418 Evans, in Leavenworth from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Discussion will include "How caregivers can prevent burnout" among many other topics. Red Cross Blood Drive

The Red Cross Blood Drive will be held on Thursday, Feb. 7, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Best Western Icicle Inn, 505 U.S. Highway 2. The blood drive is being sponsored by Mountain Meadows and the United Methodist Women. There is a great shortage of blood this time of the year. Walk-ins are welcomed. Call 548-6222. (er06)

Valentine's Day Baroque

On Valentine's Day, Thursday, February 14 at 7 p.m. the Cascade Early Music Festival and Faith Lutheran Church present Valentine Baroque, featuring soprano Linda Tsatsanis, harpsichordist Jan Weinhold from Luebeck, Germany and baroque flutist Jeffrey Cohan. Leavenworth Women's Exchange luncheon

The Leavenworth Women's Exchange monthly luncheon meeting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Visconti's, 636 Front Street, Leavenworth. Cost of the luncheon is $14 for members and $16 for non-members. Beverage, tax and gratuity are included. Summer Theater Adult Auditions

Leavenworth Summer Theater will hold adult auditions for "The Sound of Music," "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Footloose" March 13 to 17 at the Icicle River Middle School in Leavenworth. Adult auditions are by appointment only. Each auditioner will have up to 10 minutes to sing a song from one of this summer's shows, in the original key, music provided in advance by Leavenworth Summer Theater, and to present cold readings, provided at the audition. Autumn Leaf Festival Association is having a contest to commemorate 50 Years of Golden Memories. This year the 50th Royal Lady will be presented on Tuesday, March 5 at the Best Western Icicle Inn. Let's have some fun and see how much we all know about our Royal Ladies and the Autumn Leaf Festival Assn. Question 1: What was the name of the first Royal Lady of the Autumn Leaves? Second Saturday

Second Saturday for February is Saturday Feb. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cashmere Art and Activities Center on 120 Cottage Ave. Featured artists, Jennifer Evenhus and Brad Brisbine, will be available for visitors. Spotlight artist, Sandra Dean, will also be on site. Door prizes will be drawn at 7:30 p.m. and refreshments will be served. Music is provided by Kirk Lewellen and perhaps a surprise guest. Genealogical Society to meet

The Wenatchee Area Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 11, at Faith Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 171 Eastmont Avenue, East Wenatchee.
