Dorothy May (Thresher) Newton
Dorothy was born Feb. 3, 1924, to Francis and Nell (Yarrow) VanBrocklin in Leavenworth, Washington. She graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1941 and attended one year at Washington State University. Dorothy then went to the Spokane Air Depot to serve the war effort as a Chief Clerk in the Civil Service. She was first assigned to the Parachute Division and then put in charge of the Bombsite Department Office under the command of Capt. Curtis Thresher, whom she married in 1944.

Helen B. Gullard
Helen B. Gullard, a long-time resident of Leavenworth, Washington, died peacefully on April 7. She moved to Leavenworth in 1974 with her husband, Jim.

Helen was a skilled and caring Registered Nurse and was proud of her position of Director of Nursing at Cashmere Convalescent Center where she worked until her retirement in 1992. She was an incorrigible volunteer and was active in the Cashmere Rotary Club. Rotary International recognized her as a Paul Harris Fellow for outstanding service to the Rotary and the community. She could often be seen cooking brauts at the Our Lady of the Snows booth for Leavenworth festivals or treating patients at the Leavenworth Free Clinic. She enjoyed her Eucharistic Ministry and her many friends and activities at the church.

Helen was born Aug. 9, 1922 to Charles Barker and Gertrude (Gross) Barker in Townsend, Montana. She lived and worked on her parents' ranch outside of Townsend until she moved to town to attend high school in Townsend. She received her nursing degree from St. John's Hospital School of Nursing in Helena, Montana in 1943. She worked at St. John's and met Jim Gullard who was a U.S. Navy recruiter in Helena.. They were married in the Helena Cathedral on April 12, 1944.

Elaine Marie McCoy
Elaine Marie McCoy, born Nov. 18, 1922, died March 4, 2014, at 92 from a final episode of pneumonia in Seattle, Washington where she lived during the last years of her life. Elaine was the adopted daughter of Ella and Bernhardt (Barney) Tosch of Cashmere, Washington, where she was raised in Ella's and Barney's apple orchard and graduated from Cashmere High School.

After high school, Elaine started college at the University of Washington. World War II started, and she left school to work as one of the many 'Rosie the Riveters' at Boeing. She finished the war as a 'Beautiful American Marine' driver.

Enid Linnea Johnston
Enid Linnea Johnston, 94, of Leavenworth, passed from this earth into the arms of her Heavenly Father March 26, 2015. She is now re-united with her loving husband Paul, a marriage of 70 years.

Enid was born Dec. 28, 1920 to John and Clara Nelson in Selah, Washington. Moving to Houghton, Washington she met and married Paul Johnston of Kirkland, Washington on Feb. 27, 1944. Paul and Enid made their home in Houghton before moving to Leavenworth in 1995.

Florence Irene Painter Cenotto
Florence Irene (Painter) Cenotto was born in Mansfield, Washington on Feb. 10, 1918 to Harrison and June (Emmons) Painter; she passed away March 24, 2015 in Cashmere, Washington. After graduating from Mansfield High School she attended beauty school in Wenatchee. She was a beauty operator in Wenatchee when she met Pierre (Pete) Louis Cenotto. They were married Jan. 1, 1940 in Twisp at the home of her parents.

Ruben Lawrence Radach
Ruben Lawrence Radach went home to be with the Lord On April 1 2015, at the age of 83. A Long time resident of the Cashmere, Leavenworth area, Ruben passed away in the Cashmere Convalescent Center in Cashmere, Washington of Pneumonia.

Ruben was born Oct.17, 1931 in Alfred North Dakota. Parents, John and Natalia Radach and family moved to the Nahaum Canyon area in 1935 and he lived there all of his childhood and much of his adult life. Ruben attended Cashmere schools. He had 19 siblings, nine boys and six girls. Ruben married Julia (Judy) Lorrain Howard on Jan. 29, 1955. He worked 28 years maintenance for McDonald in Lacey Washington, retired at the age of 60. Ruben Loved fishing, hunting and bowling.

Donald Gordon Shay
Donald Gordon Shay, 90, of Maple Valley, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Donald served in the U.S. Army Air Force, then graduated from the University of Washington after his service, earning a Bachelors in Business Administration. Donald continued to serve in the Air Force reserves until 1984, reaching the rank of Colonel.
