Gloria Fay Mathews The Pajama Lady
On Nov. 23, 1932 Gloria was born to Irvin and Lyda Sines of Entiat, Washington. She passed away March 30, 2016 after a brief illness. Over the years, she became an exceptional seamstress, known for making everything from children's pajamas (thus The Pajama Lady) to wedding dresses. No matter what project people brought to her door, she was always happy to take on a new challenge. Every year, Gloria looked forward to finding the perfect pattern to make matching Christmas and Easter dresses for her

Eleanor Culling died peacefully on April 20, 2016 after a brief illness. She was born April 8, 1936 in Massachusetts. She grew up in Michigan and attended De Pauw University graduating with a degree in Music and Music Education. Eleanor taught instrumental and choral music in Michigan for 20 years.

Vivian Parkins
Our amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend Vivian passed away peacefully on April 7, 2016. Vivian was born Dec. 4, 1929 to Audie and Lee (Levi) Watson in Melbourne, Arkansas. She moved to Wenatchee, WA where she met and married Jack Parkins on April 27, 1946. She has resided in Cashmere for the last 55 years. Together, they raised seven children, Jackie, Doug, Joe, Bill, Mike, Sheryl and Suzy.

Ray "Swede" Hendrickson
Ray "Swede" Hendrickson, 90, a longtime resident of Leavenworth, died Tuesday March 15, 2016 at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.
A longtime logger/tree faller for Peshastin Lumber and Box and several other logging companies including Jack Faust Logging, at home most in the woods, requested there be no formal service held. There will be a gathering of family and friends later this spring or summer.
Swede is survived by his wife Gretchen of the family home; son, Ole Hendrickson of Leavenworth; daughters, Jan Andrewson of Leavenworth and Kristy Hendrickson of Wenatchee; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Joyce Hendrickson and daughter, Laura.
Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert "Bob" Miles Dennis
Robert "Bob" Miles Dennis was called to his heavenly home Feb. 24 at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, Wash. He was born in Wenatchee April 17, 1932 to John "Ben" and Lola (Nichol) Dennis, the youngest of five siblings. In his early school years, the family moved to Peshastin. Bright, competitive and driven as a young man, Bob balanced his high school years with excelling in team sports, especially; playing baseball with the exceptional Peshastin team, leading as student body president and helping his dad manage the family pear orchard. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Vivian Hughes, shortly after graduation in 1951. They were blessed with three children, Karen, Kathryn and Rob.

Adeline Elizabeth Lowry
Adeline Elizabeth Lowry was born to Albert Holmer and his wife Marie Ide Holmer on Sept. 26, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan. She married her high school sweetheart, Albert Wesley Lowry, on Dec. 23, 1944. In the years following, she obtained a Secretarial Degree from Ipsilanti College in Michigan. Upon graduating, Adeline worked for Michigan State University as head of Student Placement and later as secretary for President Anspach of Eastern Michigan University. 1951 brought the birth of their daughter, TommaLou (Tomi). And in 1953 the family moved to Evart, Michigan where their son, Steven Scott, was born. In 1964, she opened Adeline's Dress Shop of Evart, where she worked for 20 years. During that time, Adeline was named in Who's Who in Michigan. In her earlier years in Evart, Adeline competed in the Mrs. Michigan Contest and, not surprisingly, was named Mrs. Congeniality. She was active in her church, St. Paul Lutheran Church of Evart, and belonged to Zonta's Business Club, Business and Professional Women of Michigan and the Osceola County Fair Board. Adeline loved to travel and took several trips to Europe to visit family in Germany. While working as a sales representative for an India clothing line, she traveled to India to pick styles and fabrics for the line. Vida Mae Davenport
Vida Mae Davenport, 65, a resident of Leavenworth for 35 years, went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning, Feb. 15, 2016.
Vida was born on December 10, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the seventh of Orville and Vivian Davenport's eight children. She spent her early years on the farm in Rich Hill, Missouri, where her family moved in 1959. She moved to Leavenworth, Washington, with her parents and brothers, Vince and Doyle Davenport and their families, in 1980.
During her years in Leavenworth, she loved going to church functions, Gideon meetings with her parents, and traveling to visit her brother Tim and his wife, Diane, in Missouri, sisters, Donna Davenport in Seattle, Patricia Davenport and Sharon Cutler in California, and Naomi VonLinger and husband Henry in Kentucky. She was "Aunt Vida" to her 18 nieces and nephews and 31 grand nieces and nephews. She enjoyed horses working on latch hook rugs, drawing, shopping and watching football. She loved teasing, laughing, and dancing. Vida will be greatly missed by her family.

Bonnie (Nelson) Powell
Bonnie (Nelson) Powell, beloved teacher, mother, sister, aunt and friend. On the evening of Jan. 14, 2016, Bonnie, a longtime resident and teacher passed away peacefully of natural causes at her home in Leavenworth, Washington with her family by her side.
Bonnie was born in Seattle, Washington on March 13, 1941 to Helen M. Totten and Gaeel L. Nelson. Bonnie started early in life helping others with her involvement in the local chapter of Campfire Girls.

Delbert (Mac) Eugene McCoy
Delbert "Mac" McCoy, 88 of Yakima,
Washington, died unexpectedly on Oct. 10, 2015 doing what he loved . . . on his annual hunting trip with his life-long friend, Bob Quesnell.
Born in Leavenworth, Washington, he was the son of the late Delbert and Ruth McCoy. He grew up in the Wenatchee Valley where he worked in the family orchards and also at the Peshastin Mill. He enlisted in the US Navy right out of high school and upon his return he married his sweetheart, Arloha.

Eugene Dennis "Denny" McMillin
Denny died after a short illness at Central Washington Hospital Feb. 21, 2016 with some of his family present. Denny was born to Eugene "Mac" and Mary McMillan on March 14, 1939 in Portland, Oregon where he grew up and attended St. Rose Elementary and Central Catholic High School. Upon graduating in 1957, he moved to Fort Collins, Colorado to live in a shack affectionately named the Boars Nest with five other guys and attend Colorado State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Forest Management.
After graduation Denny was drafted into the U.S. Army and served out most of his two years in Germany. During his tour of duty, the Cuban Missile crisis erupted and as Denny put it, "all we had was one machine gun and some typewriters to throw at the whole Russian Army." After his discharge from the Army, Denny got a job with the U.S. Forest Service where he worked for the next 40 years, in various locations; Ripplebrook, Oregon, Darrington, Washington, Glacier, Washington, Lake Wenatchee, Washington, and finally Leavenworth, Washington, until his retirement.
