Carroll "Cal" Rulon Moss
Carroll “Cal” Rulon Moss
During the past eight years with Alzheimer's Disease, Cal was patiently cared for by his loving wife Amy Jean Anderson Moss. They met when Cal was stationed in Bremerton, Washington (U.S. Navy) and were married July 8, 1949. They shared their 65th wedding anniversary earlier this year with friends and family. Cal is preceded in death by his parents, Rulon H. Moss and Karine Dolalie Moss, and by his brother, Donald E. Moss. He is survived by his eternal companion, Amy, sisters Lois Carpenter, Melba Beck and Verna Dearstyne, children Kjirsti and Jim Port, Karine and Roger McOmie, Kevin and Gloria Moss, Karla and Tom Sparks, and Keama and Eric Zizzi. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren whom he loves dearly and of whose accomplishments he is very proud.

Barbara Gilyard
Barbara was born to Weldon Whitfield "Bud" Yerxa and Jesse Evelyn (Swanson) Yerxa 9-14-1926. Her only brother John was born 2 years later. She graduated from Wenatchee High School and was an Apple Blossom Princess in 1944. After high school Barbara attended WSU and became a member of Alpha Gam later she went to a floral design school in Chicago, Ill. Barbara then worked at Tommy Luke's Florist in Portland, Oregon. Her professional skills as a florist were always in demand, many shops, friends, family and her home benefited many, many times. She was married to Navy Pilot Galen E. Gilyard February 23, 1947. Barb was a devoted and loving wife and mother for 67 years.

Gary L. Bergeron
Born May 11, 1941 in Kirkland, Washington, and passed away peacefully on Sept. 1, 2014, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Estelle, sisters Geraldine and Norma, and brother Wally. He graduated from Lake Washington High School and spent his entire working career in the automobile industry at Poier Motors and Art Poier Leasing Company. Gary enjoyed spending time in Leavenworth, Yuma, Arizona and the Snohomish area. Other travels included visiting Hawaii and several places around the U.S. in their RV. Golfing, fishing, boating, and riding his John Deere lawn mower were some of his many hobbies. Gary had a great teasing sense of humor and will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Joseph (Joe) Lee Hodgson
Joseph Lee Hodgson, 68, died at home on Aug. 29, 2014. Born to Floyd and Mabel (Johnson) Hodgson June 16, 1946, at Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Pasco, Washington, Joe lived his childhood camping, fishing and hunting with his family. He attended Kennewick High School where he played varsity football and baseball. At age 14, he joined the workforce employed by Mayfair Markets. He became a manager at the age of 19, traveling to troubleshoot store operations in other locations. In 1964, he married Stephanie Montague from Kennewick and had three children, Joe, Marcie and Jennifer. In 1977, he moved to Wenatchee to manage Fleenor's Market on 5th Street.

Lucille P. (Wald) Ferderer
Beloved wife, mother, sister and "grama," Lucille P. Ferderer, 79, a resident of Leavenworth for 26 years, joined her son Gary in heaven Monday evening, Aug. 25, 2014 after a two-year battle with lung cancer. Her family was by her side during her last days, sharing stories, laughter, and tears.

Erma Louise Twitchell
Our cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to everyone, Erma Louise Twitchell, 95, surrounded by her family, passed away on Aug. 20, 2014 at Central Washington Hospital, Wenatchee.

Born to Henry and Catherine Schmick in Endicott, Washington on Nov. 17, 1918, Erma joined two older sisters, Eva and Alice. A brother, Byron died at age one in 1908. When Erma was two and a half, her mother died of typhoid fever and shortly after her father's remarriage, Erma was taken to live with her mother's sister, Matilda Klaveano on their farm near Colfax. "Uncle" and "Auntie" Klaveano raised her with their son, Virgil-who was her adored "brother" for her entire life.

John (Jack) Martin Bywater
John (Jack) Martin Bywater, born June 18, 1933 passed away on Aug. 6, 2014 after a brief battle with an aggressive cancer. Jack was the second of two twins born on a farm near Lignite, North Dakota to William and Elsie (Hovland) Bywater. He graduated from Lignite High School in 1952. He attended North Dakota State University from 1952-53. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1953-55 and was stationed in Germany. After leaving the Army he enrolled at the University of North Dakota (UND), where he graduated in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in education. He received a Master's Degree in Secondary Administration from UND in 1966.

Gary Sauer
Gary Dean Sauer, 72, died in Seattle of complications related to Parkinson's disease on July 1, 2014. He was the third and youngest child of Welcome Friend Sauer and Celia Miriam Knowles Sauer and was born at Cascade Hospital in Leavenworth, Washington on April 23, 1942. He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1960. His early years were filled with adventures in the Icicle Valley and the high lakes, including hiking, fishing and hunting trips with friends and family. He received numerous 4-H awards for raising and judging prize livestock and was selected to represent 11 western states at the 1959 National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago. His specialty for the award was "telling the 4-H story." While still a student, Gary worked during the summers for the U.S. Forest Service on the trail crew, and during the summers of 1960 and 1961, at the Icicle Ridge lookout tower watching for wildfires in the wilderness.
