Elizabeth "Liz" Anne (Wannenburgh) Mangels passed away Jan. 9, 2013. She will be forever remembered for her unending selflessness, her kind words for whomever she met and for being an exceptional mother.

Liz was born July 8, 1946, to Malcolm W. and Dorothy (Woods) Wannenburgh. She was a registered nurse and trained in South Africa. She began her nursing career in Cape Town, South Africa, and served in a variety of nursing capacities, including labor and delivery, surgical, rehabilitative, and psychiatric nursing. She even turned her skills to both nursing reception and as a nursing director. She capped her healthcare career by serving as an administrative leader for many years at Cascade Medical Center in Leavenworth, Wash., where she was known as a wise adviser, an insightful problem-solver and for working as many hours as it took to accomplish her role. Liz was particularly happy in Leavenworth, a home where she forged some of her most cherished friendships.

Among many of her other talents, Liz was also an accomplished classical pianist; she received her licentiate from Trinity College of London, after which she ran a successful music studio in South Africa. In 1987,she and her husband made the decision to move to the United States in order to better the opportunities of their children. Liz is survived by her husband, Benjamin H. Mangels, and her children, daughter Dolly Foley and son Malcolm Mangels. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Malcolm Wannenburgh.

A Memorial Service will be held in Colorado in July 2013, the place where she began her American journey. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
