Robert Emerson Giger

Robert Emerson Giger, Sr, 76, died at home on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 surrounded by his wife and children.

Robert was born April 20, 1936 in Walla Walla, Wash. to Chester Allen Giger and Catherine White Giger. He is survived by four siblings, Kenneth, Samuel, Ellen and David. He attended schools in Weston, Ore. and Walla Walla. He served as Superintendent of Corrections Facilities for the Washington State Department of Corrections, retiring in the mid-80s. As well, he was a member of the National Guard in the State of Oregon. He made his home in Vancouver, Wash. with wife Carolyn Ann before moving to Leavenworth in 2006.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Miles Wesley Giger, and son Ryan Elliott Giger

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ann, at home; his children Robert E. Giger Jr; Debra Ann Oakley (John); Dana Jean Hedges (Mark); Robyn Giger; Rhonda Marie Giger (Kirk Goodrich); Renee A. Spencer (Randy) and stepson Geoff Richardson (Tina); his special grandchildren Adam (Shannon), Aaron (Dominique). Kendra Jean, Kyle Allen, Morgan, Jordan, Nathaniel, Eli, Lauren Dana and Derek Banning. Great-grandchildren include Gracie, Harper, and Hendrix. Neighborhood children Atticus, Coco, Bijou, Madi and Cassie were also a special part of his life.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Ward's Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. at the Leavenworth Community United Methodist Church, 418 Evans Street. Reverend Denise Roberts and Reverend John Romine will officiate.

Burial will be next to his son Ryan at Ocean View Cemetery in Port Angeles, Wash. on Friday afternoon, Dec. l4 at 1:30 p.m. Memorial gifts in Bob's name may be made to a charity of choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ward's Funeral Chapel.
