Harvey M. Nitschke was born on Feb. 13, 1923 in Marlin, Wash. to John and Eucille Nitschke. He grew up in the Marlin area before moving to the Leavenworth area where he graduated from Leavenworth High School. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corp in November of 1943 and was an airplane and engine mechanic. He was discharged from the Army Air Corp in October 1945. He later married Marjorie Anderson on Oct. 23, 1948 and the two of them made their home in the Harrington area, where they farmed for many years. They raised their three daughters Linda, Gail and Carol on the farm. While on the farm, he was able to fix almost anything and fabricate things to do what he needed. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting. And according to his wife, "he was good looking with great hair." He was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran. He is survived by his wife Marjorie at the home and his three daughters Linda (and Floyd) Cloke, Gail (and Steven) Hardwick and Carol (and Wayne) Parrish along with five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Robert and infant sister Goldie. The family would like to thank the Don Timm and family for their help over the years.
