Deborah June Seyler passed away Nov. 13, 2012 after a long and courageously fought battle with breast cancer. She was born on Dec. 11, 1957, the daughter of Catherine P. Seyler and the late Reverend Lawrence J. Seyler. She was a long term resident of Leavenworth and Lake Wenatchee. Deborah lived her life with passion and compassion.

Her first career was as an ADV-EMT and firefighter in the White Mountains of New Hampshire where she was also a rock and ice climber. She also worked as a medical office assistant, ER assistant and hospital telephone operator.

In keeping with her passion for and dedication to caring for this planet and its resources, her later work involved environmental law and policy on National Forests with regard to logging. She also developed grassroots conservation education programs for the local region, and was always actively teaching her friends and family how to live "green."

Deborah also worked for friends Bill and Peg Stark at Scottish Lakes Backcountry Ski Camp. She also used her gift of compassion while caring for people in their homes and spent some time using her healing touch as a certified massage therapist. Most recently she wrote for the Leavenworth World section of the Wenatchee World newspaper. She was involved with numerous non-profits.

Deborah loved animals, all of the outdoors, mountaineering, gourmet cooking and was an excellent writer. She was known for her generosity, even in times of her own greatest need. She often expressed deeply heartfelt thanks to all who helped her through the hard times and she always did her best to pass along the spirit of giving and caring.

She is survived by many good friends and her family who loved her dearly; her mother Cathy Seyler, her sister Linda Hurley and husband Chris, her brother David Seyler, his wife Ginny and their children Heather, Brian and Dillon.

Her family would like to thank everyone at Cascade Medical Center in Leavenworth for gentle and loving care in her final days.

In lieu of flowers Deborah asks that friends plant conifer trees for habitat and donate animal and people food regularly to the Community Cupboard food bank in Leavenworth.
