Lorna Frances (Putnam) Dickeson

Lorna Frances (Putnam) Dickeson was born on April 27, 1928 in Aitkin, Minn. to Lawrence Gordon Putnam and Frances (Avery) Putnam. She passed away at Cascade Medical Center on Sept. 14, 2012, at the age of 84. Lorna was the eldest of nine siblings. At the age of 13, she and her family moved to Custer, S.D. and then to Leavenworth, Wash., when she was 15.

She met and later married Clifford Wesley Dickeson on Dec. 24, 1946 and they had two children, Darrell Duane Dickeson and Dona Diane (Dickeson) Richards. Lorna was very involved with her family and the Leavenworth community. During her career, she worked at several local businesses. She served as a PTA officer and was a member of the Lady Lions and the Amberleaf Theater. She was selected as Leavenworth's Royal Lady in 1973 for her community service. Although she never held the formal position as a teacher, this is the legacy that she leaves from generously sharing her numerous talents and skills with many people. She was a wonderful homemaker, an excellent cook, and loved utilizing her creative abilities doing upholstery work and participating in numerous arts and crafts activities.

Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marlene Putnam, a brother, LeRoy Putnam, brother-in-laws, Charles Dickeson and Larry Stillman, and sister-in-law, Cleta Putnam.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Clifford of Epledalen Retirement & Assisted Living in Cashmere; her son Darrell (Karen) Dickeson of Newcastle, Wash. and daughter Dona (Dickeson) Richards of Index, Wash.; two grandchildren: Sarah (Kirk) Vaux of Mercer Island, Wash. and Mark (Amy) Dickeson of Liberty Lake, Wash.; plus three great grandchildren: Joelle and Kyle Dickeson and Ava Vaux. She also leaves six siblings: Leon (Cleta) Putnam of Lyle, Wash.; JoAnn (Larry) Stillman of Eagle Point, Ore.; Imogene (Dave) Seesholtz of Vancouver, WA; Shirley Sprague of Benton City, WA; Phyllis (Graham) Lunde of Aumsville, Ore.; Carolyn (John) Corn of Colorado Springs, Colo.;1 sister-in-law Lennah (Charles) Dickeson, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

At her request, no services will be held. Memorials may be made, in Lorna's name, to Lilac Services for the Blind in Wenatchee. Ward's Funeral Chapel is in charge of final arrangements. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Cascade Medical Center and Epledalen for their exceptional professional and personal care.
