Wake up America!
Dear Editor,

I have waited a while following the election to write this, so the "fog" could dissipate. I had my first job at the age of 12, and have been a part of the workforce ever since then, except for the time spent at the University of Washington, to get an Engineering degree. During those early years, America was truly the "Land of Opportunity", and most of us believed if we worked and studied hard, we would succeed!

We all bought into the Ponzi scheme called Social Security, when President Roosevelt told the Nation that it was a way to ensure the secure retirement of the American people. (All Ponzi schemes depend on more people paying into the scheme than taking money out of the scheme, and so are destined to eventually fail.)

The Social Security Ponzi scheme never had a chance, once Congress decided they could "borrow" from the Social Security fund to expand Government, and eventually pay the Social Security obligations with cheaper dollars printed by the compliant Federal Reserve.

Social Security was sold as an "insurance" policy however, we now know that unlike insurance we will only collect our "insurance" based on a "means test", so we don't get the proceeds of our policy if we have otherwise provided for our own future through hard work, savings and investment.

Of course, once Congress discovers that that is another way to get more from us to expand Government, they will apply "means testing" to other "insurance schemes" promoted by our Government, like Medicare, etc.

Congress recognizes the fragile nature of Social Security and Medicare, so they exempt themselves from these faulty schemes and provide a much better system for themselves, paid for by taxpayers, without any "means testing."

When we were all younger, we probably enjoyed a pass-time called "connect the dots." By connecting the dots, something that wasn't obvious is revealed. We no longer seem to be capable, as a Nation, of connecting the dots. The disaster in Benghazi is a good case in point. The utter incompetence, distortion and obfuscation we get on a daily basis from this Administration, should be an embarrassment to all citizens who care for this great Nation! Regrettably, this is not the only instance where we should be connecting the dots.

Here are a few more dots to connect.

If you are retired and on a fixed income, this administration, through the efforts of the Federal Reserve is not only printing money, they are holding interest rates at less than 1 percent, so you can't preserve your capital by saving or investing in CD's. This will also negatively affect your 401K and put at risk your life insurance policies.

The Administration has arbitrarily, and without explanation, excluded food and gasoline from the cost of living index, resulting in minimal increases in Social Security payments, again penalizing the older population of retirees. This is done while mandating the use of corn for fuel, resulting in increased food costs as well as increased fuel costs. Does this constitute a "war on senior citizens? (Is it just a coincidence that food and gas have increased so much under the policies of the last 4 years?)

Finally, the Senators and Representatives of both major parties seem to be oblivious to our ever burgeoning national debt. We, as a nation, spend over a trillion dollars more than we take in each year, and in the process burden our children and grandchildren with the job of somehow repaying this debt. The "takers" who benefit from the many programs we cannot afford, are stealing from the next generations. This "intergenerational theft" seemingly causes no pangs of remorse, nor a sense of responsibility.

As a Nation, we blindly vote for the people responsible for this extremely irresponsible and reckless behavior, meekly accepting the largess they provide us at the expense of future generations! This has to stop! It simply cannot go on year after year without significant and serious consequences. How can you look your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in the eye, knowing what a disastrous legacy we are leaving them?

Wake up America! Demand responsible action from Local, State and Federal Government, before it's too late!
