10/24/2012 3:04:00 PM Thanks for the smoke Dear Editor,
I would like to thank all those thoughtful people in the Wenatchee and Icicle valleys who took it upon themselves to burn something so soon after the burn ban ended. For a little while I was afraid I might actually have to breathe smoke free air again. But no, these people came to rescue and burned whatever it is they just had to burn and once again filled the valley with smoke. It was so reassuring to walk up the Icicle Ridge trail in the morning and see the smoke rise up a few feet to a layer of cold air and then spread the length of the Icicle valley from Sleeping Lady to Leavenworth. Then, later in the afternoon walking back down the trail it was really pleasant to smell the smoke after it had broken through that layer and spread even further. I wish I was a more eloquent writer so I could do justice in praising such thoughtful people who realized we didn't need a break from the smoke. It's also a good thing they aren't in the urban growth area or ignored that burning is not allowed within that area if they are. So, once again thank you for continuing to smoke up the valleys.
