Save the children
Dear Editor,

I think the paper should have done an article about September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Everyday 46 children are diagnosed with cancer and everyday 7 children die from childhood cancer. We always see things about breast cancer awareness, and that's great, but nobody ever talks about September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Seems like every company gives to breast cancer research foundations and I have only heard of Aflac supporting and making commercials for childhood cancer research.

Publisher’s comments:
Thank you for calling that to our attention Colette. We did not know September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The reason we focus so much on Breast Cancer Awareness is because there are many local events like Chelan Chase and Relay for life. Being a community newspaper, we focus on events of local importance. If someone started a local Childhood Cancer awareness group that would garner our attention.
