Titus Road M.E.N.D. property annexed into city of Leavenworth
 | By an unanimous vote, the Leavenworth City Council last week voted to annex the Upper Valley M.e.n.d. property on Titus Road into the city along with three other properties.
The other properties to be annexed into the city include Titus LLC, Agnew/Hebert and Duncan, all which are located adjacent to the M.E.N.D. property between Titus Road and Chumstick Road.
All together, a total of 26 acres is to be annexed into the city.
No one spoke at a public hearing held on Jan. 24. Now the council must enact an ordinance, tentatively set for Feb. 14, to formally annex the property into the city. City Development Services Manager Nathan Pate said, by annexing, the city would take in the property, while the property owners would take on the indebtedness of the city. | | City moving toward establishing stricter parking regulations
| Unknown to most city residents, there are parking regulations in the city of Leavenworth. The most notable is the restriction on parking on city streets during the wintertime, to allow the snow plows to come through.
Those parking regulations are enforced, but the majority of parking regulations around the city are not. The city council is beginning to take a closer look at the parking regulations around the city with the hope of eventually coming up with the citywide parking plan.
The main mover is of course the extreme parking congestion in Leavenworth during busy times of the year, and especially, during the many festivals.

Tim McNeil was a gifted carpenter, who recognized the gifts he had been given and worked throughout his life to help others.

Meeting of Jan. 17
| President Cary Sanger opened the meeting Jan. 17 at 8:30 a.m. The BVBA thanked the Chamber for the Ice Fest, which went well this year even though we didn't have much snow for it.
We also thanked Bruce Lane for the appreciation dinner that he puts on every year. It was a really good turnout and the food was delicious. Thank you King Ludwig's staff for the great service. Everyone had a good time and met a lot of new people. It was brought up that we need to do this more often so we can get to meet various merchants in town and around the area.

| | Fishin' Magician | | Ice Fishing Festival
It's less than a month away, so better make a note in your calendar and plan to attend the 8th Annual NW Ice Fishing Festival at Molson and Sidley lakes, near Oroville. The event will take place on the Saturday of President's Day weekend. There will be prizes for big fish in both adult and youth divisions and some other categories. Along with the fun of ice fishing, those that attend can also take advantage of a pancake breakfast and some other activities that are fun for the whole family. Since I first mentioned my plans to go to this year, I have received emails from folks that have going for many years, and have always had a great time, whether they caught fish or not. In addition to the pancake breakfast there is an Italian dinner served at the Grange Hall, starting right after the weigh-in deadline. There will be raffles for prizes too. The cost to enter the fishing derby is $20 for adults and $10 for kids age 14 and under. For information about the NW Ice Fishing Festival you can call Robin Stice at the Eden Valley Guest Ranch at 509-548-4002, or log onto
